Uday Kiran Damodara Win second prizes in the recently held International Mathematics Olympiad and International English Olympiad


In total about 17 students from the city picked up medals and certificates at the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF), state award function, held at Hyderabad on Sunday.

Uday Kiran Damodara from Timpany School and Kaushik Ponnapalli from Sri Chaitanya Junior College bagged second prizes in the recently held International Mathematics Olympiad and International English Olympiad, respectively. Apart from receiving medals and certificates, each were given a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.

Y. Ashita from Visakha Valley School bagged the first prize in the International English Olympiad in the state level finals. In total about 17 students from the city picked up medals and certificates at the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF), state award function, held at Hyderabad on Sunday.

SOF is a registered non-profit educational foundation established by leading academicians, scientists and media personalities with the aim of promoting science, mathematics, computer and English education. SOF currently conducts four Olympiads namely the National Cyber Olympiad (NCO), the National Science Olympiad (NSO), the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) and the International English Olympiad (IEO) in India and other countries such as Singapore, Oman, Qatar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, UAE and Durban.

Students from various schools such as the Navy Children School, Visakha Valley School, Little Angels, De Paul, Sri Chaitanya Junoir College, FIITJEE, Narayana, and Sri Prakash picked up state level awards.

The awards were given away by the Dean of ISB Prof. Ajit Rangnekar and Head of British Council Teaching Centre- Hyderabad Gwendydd Hardcastle, in presence of the CEO of MTG Books Anil Arahawat and Director (Corporate) of SOF Rajan Marwaha.
