IPL CSK vs RCB 2012 : Muttiah Muralitharan removes dangerous Faf du Plessis


 Chasing mammoth 206, Chennai suffered a big blow as they lost Faf du Plessis who kept Super Kings chances alive against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their IPL 5 match at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. 




Muttiah Muralitharan was the pick of the bowler who captured all three wickets by removing Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina and Faf du Plessis. Du Plessis played brilliant knock of 71, smashing five fours and four sixes. 


Muttiah Muralitharan struck to give Bangalore much needed breakthrough after Chennai openers put up a good fight back. 


Earlier, Chris Gayle (68 off 35 balls) and Virat Kohli (57 off 46 balls) outplayed Chennai Super Kings bowling to post 205/8 on the board. 


Bangalore, who scored the highest total of this IPL season so far, stuttered in the slog overs as they lost six wickets in the span of 43 runs. 


Chennai took huge sigh of relief when Ravindra Jadeja struck to end Chris Gayle's blazing knock of 68 runs in their IPL 5 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. 


Chris Gayle notched up half century off 27 balls to take Royal Challengers Bangalore towards the mammoth total against Chennai Super Kings. 


Gayle smashed five huge sixes and a four in the fastest fifty of the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League and also added 100-run stand for the second wicket with Virat Kohli. 


Chris Gayle came into act the after the dismissal of Mayank Agarwal to lead Royal Challengers Bangalore innings. Gayle and Kohli continued the fast start given by Mayank Agarwal as they took Bangalore past 100 runs in the 11th over. 


Albie Morkel struck to give Chennai Super Kings first breakthrough as he dismissed dangerous Agarwal. Royal Challengers got off to a rollicking as they crossed fifty runs inside five overs. 


Mayank Agarwal played a flamboyant knock of 45 runs that came off just 26 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes. 


Chris Gayle surprisingly was not in his elements in the first powerplay as Agarwal dominated the opening stand with his powerful hitting. 


Agarwal opened the Bangalore's account on the second delivery of the innings with a boundary over mid-off and he continued hammering Chennai bowlers all over the park in the scorching heat. 


Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Daniel Vettori won the toss and decided to bat against Chennai Super Kings. 


Bangalore made only one change as Harshal Patel made the way for Raju Bhatkal. Chennai, on the other hand, have retained the same playing eleven.
